“Miracles start to happen when you give as much energy to your dreams as you do to your fears.”
This is what brought us together. Although neither of us realized it then, our meeting was to be more than just friendship…it was the start of something miraculous. Little did we know that in so many ways, we’d help each other rekindle not just our individual spirits, but we’d give birth many years later to a shared vision and dream.
It was the fall of 1990 and we were both older students returning to finish college after a number of challenges – Cara having faced some health issues and Meg trying to get back on her feet after an unplanned pregnancy and becoming a single mom. Suffice it to say, for too long we had each been giving energy to fear in our lives and were both ready for a fresh start. Our paths crossed that first day and it was like finding a light in the dark. We had so many similarities! Our age, our college majors, our background, even our class schedule…we were soul sisters from the start! Although both of us were business majors, each of us brought a unique perspective to complement the other. Cara was the creative one, naturally gifted in design and the arts, while Meg was the philosophical one, interested in spirituality, mysticism and relationships. Our friendship was built on acceptance, support, encouragement, transparency and kindness. The years rolled by and we cheered one another on through graduation, jobs, weddings, children, moves and aging parents, always trying to mirror for one another our highest selves. Life wasn’t always easy and at times miles separated us, but through it all we kept that bond…we recognized each other’s gifts and encouraged each other to dream and live with purpose and passion.
And so it’s no surprise that all these years later, the little miracle of our meeting and friendship has made way for a much bigger one. Silver Lining is the vision of two people who want to create a space to form friendships, to lift your spirit, to enjoy beautiful items, to learn new ideas, to find inspiration, and most of all…to give energy to not just our dreams, but to a community of dreamers.
Because…that’s when miracles start to happen!
